Guides for integrating Soracom devices and services with Amazon Web Services.

Last updated:

Soracom services forward data from cellular IoT devices to AWS. You register your AWS credentials in the Soracom User Console, so devices don't need AWS certificates, access keys, or SDKs.

Soracom Beam, Funnel, Funk, and Flux forward device data to AWS IoT Core, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, Amazon Data Firehose, Amazon Location Service, and Amazon SageMaker

Send messages to AWS IoT Core

  • Soracom Beam forwards MQTT messages from the device to AWS IoT Core. Beam adds TLS encryption and authenticates with the X.509 certificates that you register in Soracom.
  • Soracom Funnel sends data from the device to an AWS IoT Core topic through the Funnel AWS IoT adapter.
  • Soracom Flux publishes data to AWS IoT Core from a Flux app webhook action, using AWS Signature Version 4.

Run AWS Lambda functions

  • Soracom Funk invokes a Lambda function and returns the function's result to the device.
  • Soracom Beam calls a Lambda function URL through an HTTP entry point and signs the request with AWS Signature Version 4.

Store data in Amazon S3

  • Soracom Beam uploads and downloads files in an S3 bucket through the Beam Website entry point.
  • Soracom Funnel sends data to Amazon Data Firehose, which delivers it to an S3 bucket in batches.

Use other AWS services

Soracom Beam can also send device data to Amazon Location Service to track device positions, or to a model deployed on Amazon SageMaker to get predictions.
